Lexington Homosexuals
Have Babies Baptized
Michael Meehan and his male domestic partner, Thomas Dysarz, celebrated the baptism of their quadruplets at Lexington's Cathedral of Christ the King. The Rev. Paul Prabell blessed the men as he would any other parents despite the doctrine that homosexual acts are sinful.
"This is what Christ would do," said Mr. Meehan, the quadruplets' biological father. "He blessed people who were cast out of the church. (The babies) are God's children. That's how the church should view it."
The quadruplets' July 26 birth via surrogate mother to gay partners is thought to be unprecedented. It drew worldwide attention. The four babies were conceived through an in-vitro fertilization that paired a surrogate mother's eggs with the sperm of Mr. Meehan.
Father Prabell said Saturday that he doesn't recall ever baptizing a child of an openly gay parent. Father Prabell said no one had objected to the christening, although he expects that "some people would feel that the christening would be an endorsement of homosexuality and surrogate parenting." Father also said the two male parents promised to "raise the babies "Catholic".
School Honors Heroes What Makes a Hero?
The October 24, 2002 edition
of The Record contains a front-page picture of Kentucky’s Lt.
Gov. Steve Henry signing an autograph on the back of a young student at
Our Lady of Consolation School. The school held a week-long celebration honoring
local heroes. Should a person in favor of killing unborn babies be a
"hero" for local Catholic school children?
Author of Sex-abuse Policy Gives Deposition
Lt. Gov. Henry is a pro-choice politician. (This was verified by his wife, Heather French
Henry, in a Northern Kentucky newspaper interview.)
Brian Reynolds, the primary author of the Archdiocesan
policy on sexual abuse gave a deposition on October 10th and 11th. In the
deposition he said that Archbishop Kelly told him nothing about previous
allegations of abuse by priests when Kelly ordered rules to be drawn up
for protecting children. In response to questions Reynolds said:
According to the Associated Press, Three priests in the diocese of Lexington, Kentucky received threatening letters recently. The unsigned letters accuse the three of wounding and slandering the diocese, its homosexual priests and its former Bishop, J. Kendrick Williams. They also accuse one of the priests of running a web site highly critical of liberals, feminists and gay priests. The priest denies any connection to the site entioned.
One of those threatened, a pastor in Nicholasville, read parishioners a portion of the letter he received. Another said he had been targeted because he teaches "Gospel values and Gospel principles", including the Church’s position that homosexuality is gravely disordered.
