Pro-Life Page

Editor’s Note:

Catholics in Action received a copy of the 2002 "Walk For Life Report". All pro-lifers in this area, especially our Catholic brothers and sisters should be very proud of this year’s efforts. The official results show the participants ranged from senior citizen rockers to a preborn baby.

Special thanks to the event chairman, Joe Calvert, for organizing this wonderful public display which witnessed to the depth of pro-life support in this community.

On September 14th, Right To Life of Louisville held it's annual Walk For Life. The Walk was hosted by St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. There is good news to report!

The count of walkers at the midpoint of the Walk was up from 650 last year to 800 this year. Income from the Walk is up 32% over the previous year with pledges still coming in. This is incredible given media reports of charitable giving being down this year. The number of churches bringing significant numbers of walkers and pledges is up. The base of support is both widening and strengthening.

Each and every abortion tragedy must be grieved as much as the loss of a spouse or friend; indeed, each abortion marks the death of a part of the future of each of us. But, it is also appropriate to remember that despair is a sin. The number of abortions both in Kentucky and in our nation is down. As pro-life support grows, the Truth is ever more illuminated and then more support grows. With more support comes better results and fewer abortions. Every step forward is something for which to be grateful to God. With lives on the line every day, there is simply no time to be despondent or devisive. We have to go forward both in prayer and works...Ora et Labora (to quote the Benedictine motto)!

Thanks to all of the Catholic servants of Christ who are making a positive difference to protect the unborn, elderly, and disabled. Many lives have been saved and many more will be saved because of you! If you've been wanting to make a difference for life and would like to join with others who feel as you do, please call the Right To Life office at 895-5959. The harvest is plentiful and the laborer is you!

God bless.
