Sudden Price Reduction?

To the editor:

Well, surprise, surprise! The Archdiocese of Louisville is selling the property formerly occupied by Holy Rosary High School to the non-profit Americana Community Center for $525,000.00. If you will recall, Spalding University officials told Holy Rosary students and alumnae last spring that if they could raise $850,000.00 by a specified date, which they thought would be an impossible task, the school could remain open. When parents showed up with cash in hand on the appointed date, Spalding board members quickly changed their story and said thanks, but no thanks, we're closing the school anyway.

It should be noted that the Chief Administrative Officer and now Chancellor of the Archdiocese, Brian Reynolds, sits on Spalding's Board of Directors. Perhaps when the homosexual/pedophile scandal erupted in Boston, Reynolds foresaw it happening here also and wanted to move quickly to a position of liquidity in preparation for the deluge of lawsuits that have rained down on the Archdiocese this summer.

Sixty years ago the Nazi SS in Italy did the same to the Jews in Rome. You may recall this from a movie called "The Scarlet and the Black." The Jews were told to pay an impossible indemnity in gold, and they would be safe. When the gold, much donated by Catholics, was delivered, the SS reneged and shipped the Jews off to concentration camps.

This kind of behavior is nothing new for Reynolds. Last year he removed a highly respected and capable individual from the administration of Holy Cross High School and replaced him with a leader intended to preside over its orchestrated collapse. The eventual sale of this prime commercial property on Dixie Highway will pull in a much larger chunk of change, which will be much
needed as informed Catholics withhold contributions to the Archbishop's annual fund drive in righteous indignation. C. P.

C-J Censors Letter

To the Editor:

Surprise, surprise! The Courier Journal printed my letter--sort of. They left out the meat--the most important point that explains that "Pro-choice" is a lie! Below you'll see what they left out enclosed in bold print.

Note: It is not enough for these politicians to just vote Pro-Life when the vote is a public matter. They must also work behind the scenes to get these bills passed--even more so when they are Speaker Pro Tem, Speaker of the House or in other powerful positions. Towing the Democratic "Pro-choice" line to advance their position in the Party does not measure up to defending the unborn! For many years good bills have been allowed to die in committee often with the help of those who proclaim publicly to be Pro-Life. If they are sincerely Pro-Life they would also use every opportunity to publicly confront those Pro-abortion officials and candidates in the Party (Patton, Clinton, Gore, Jack Conway, Lois Combs Weinberg, Jerry Abramson...) on the issue, instead of cozying up to them every chance they get.

MY LETTER:

As a Catholic I am proud to lend my support to Linda Gottbrath in her race for State Representative against incumbent Larry Clark in the 46th District. She is solidly Pro Life and will use her vote wisely. Larry Clark has used his powerful position as Speaker Pro Tem to block Pro Life Legislation but somehow calls himself Catholic. He has a proven record that is NOT Pro Life and goes against Catholic teaching!

Somehow many falsely believe that you can be "Pro Choice" in the abortion issue and call yourself Christian. Could you be "Pro Choice" in the issue of slavery claiming it is between the slave owner and his God? Could you be "Pro Choice" in the issue of rape claiming that what a man does with is own body is his business? Of Course not! In each of these cases: abortion, slavery and rape another human life created in God's image is involved.

Politicians are in unique positions to make change and to help protect the pre-born from a brutal death. They should use this position wisely and with compassion. And if they are not going to protect the unborn baby they should stop flashing the label "Catholic" confusing many who think "He's Catholic; he must be against abortion." Don't be fooled!

Vote Pro Life whatever district you're in. Vote Linda Gottbrath in the 46th for a voice for the voiceless! Take a stand!!

C. L. T.

Internet Compliments

Dear Sir or Madam:

I have been looking at your web site. Thank you for trying to keep Catholics informed. It is very difficult for individuals to know exactly what is "liturgically correct" anymore. We need organizations like yours to help us become informed about our faith.

There was a time when we could depend on our Catholic schools and religion classes to educate us. Nowadays it seems as if ultra liberals are in charge of education. M. M.
